The first Global Conference of the European university alliance EULiST takes place in Madrid on 20 and 21 November 2025, funded by the European Union in the European Universities Programme. 230 researchers from 34 countries from Europe and world-wide debate for two days, together with experts from cities, civil society, and companies about “Co-creating Sustainable Solutions for Climate-Resilient Societies”.

The session “Urban Resilience and Climate Neutrality” discusses the adaptation and transformation of cities, including adaptive buildings and infrastructures, circular economy, digitalisation, and the social dimensions of urban transformation. This session in the main auditorium of the Aranjuez campus of URJC has been initiated by the collaboration of the three large Architecture Schools in EULiST, the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape of Leibniz University Hannover, the School of Architecture of the National Technical University Athens, and the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Technical University Vienna, together with the University of L'Aquila.

The 26 contributions to this session come from the EULiST partner universities, the cities of Vienna and Athens, from Brazil and Ukraine. Jörg Schröder and Anna Pape (LUH Institute of Urban Design and Planning) present the CiD Circular Design Innovation Alliance, funded by the European Union, and Christian Werthmann (LUH Institute of Landscape Architecture) talks about how to speed up the climate adaptation of urban streets.
