The work of the Dean's office and the deans of studies is supported by various committees. The committees are composed of representatives of the so-called status groups of the faculty (professors, MTV, students).
The faculty council decides in matters of teaching and research. It decides on the faculty regulations, in particular the examination regulations, and takes a stand vis-à-vis the Presidential Board if new courses of study are to be introduced, changed in essential parts or even closed. Up to 13 members belong to the faculty board, who are directly elected by groups. The dean chairs the council, but has no voting rights. The group of professors must have one vote more than the other groups together. In matters concerning the evaluation of teaching, students have double voting rights, while MTV members have no voting rights in these matters.
The academic commissions regulate all matters concerning teaching, studies and examinations. They are to be heard before decisions of the faculty board. The faculty board shall acknowledge their recommendations and document their positions.
The examination committee is responsible for the organisation of examinations and for the assumption of specified functions pursuant to the examination regulations of individual degree programmes. The committee shall be an expert group comprised of members of the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape.
Members of the groups of university lecturers, lecturing staff, and students are represented on the examination committees. The faculty shall determine the composition of the committee. The positions of chair and deputy chair shall be held by members of the group of university lecturers. The student member has only an advisory role in the evaluation and recognition of examination performances.
The selection committees prepare the selection decision on the entry and admission of students to the Master's programme. The selection committee consists of three voting members of the respective expert group who must be members of the group of university lecturers or the group of lecturing staff, and one member of the student group in an advisory capacity. The members are appointed by the faculty board of the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape. The term of office of the members is two years; that of the student member one year.
The room committee of the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape is composed of representatives of technical groups as well as members of the dean's office and the dean of studies. Its main task is to ensure the optimal use of student workspaces, seminar rooms as well as institute and storage areas; to develop new concepts for workspaces, to coordinate reconstruction and extension measures and to represent the faculty externally.
An active and attractive university life would be unthinkable without the commitment and initiative of students - not only in lectures and projects, but also beyond the curriculum, especially in the faculty’s elected student council for Architecture and Landscape.
At the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape, you will meet students who shape the everyday life of the faculty with great enthusiasm and creativity, and are also committed to their interests in the academic commissions, the faculty board and other selected committees.
We invite all interested to actively participate in the activities of the student council. You can find information on how to participate as well as on daily student life in Hannover on the websites of the student councils below.
