Laves Prize 2023: 4 out of 5 prizes and awards for FAL students

The Chairman of the Laves Foundation, Robert Marlow, and Prof. Anke Bertram from Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts presented the Laves Prize 2023 at the DOMOTEX trade fair on 11 January 2024. For the first time, five equal prizes were awarded to students of architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and urban planning. The jury, headed by Prof Anke Bertram, selected the winners and a total of eight commendations from a record number of 115 entries.

The high number of submissions and the outstanding quality of the work presented us with a particular challenge at the jury meeting“, said Robert Marlow, Chairman of the Laves Foundation. The good distribution of the work among the universities in Lower Saxony and the four different disciplines was also particularly pleasing.

Preservation and development, sustainable and circular building, individual design and community potential, formulating visions for the future of the city, open spaces, buildings and society - these aspects were addressed by the students in their work in an impressive manner. In the end, the jury came to the conclusion that five equally awarded works would be more appropriate and would be even more in line with the Laves Foundation's concept.
